Intermediate Contemporary West African
Artistic Director, Fatima Logan-Alston will teach Intermediate Contemporary West African at the 35th Annual International Conference and Festival of Blacks in Dance, entitled, “The Bridges We Build From Revolution to Legacy,” January 25 from 4:30-6pm in Pittsburgh, PA.
The full festival of international artists and acclaimed teachers runs from January 22-26, 2025.
Cultivating Umoja with CCCADI
Join Threads of Truth with CCCADI in the spirit of Umoja- Unity in an intergenerational interactive program including dance, live percussion, and fun to learn about the cultural holiday of Kwanzaa. In this interactive performance, we will set up the symbols for the Kwanzaa table, share ideas on how to celebrate it, and dance and drum in celebration of culture and tradition. There will be a cultural marketplace where you can purchase your goods to set up your own Kwanzaa table this holiday with festive and unique style.
Contemporary Workshop Series
Contemporary Dance Workshop in Logan Technique focusing on use of flow through release, rebound, medial initiation, and redirection inspired by traditional and contemporary modern and West African dance. Open Level.

Reinterment of the Ancestors at the African Burial Ground National Monument
Threads of Truth will participate in the commemoration of the Reinterment of the Ancestors. The program is free and open to the public, and will take place from 11am-2pm Friday, October 4, 2024, outside at the monument at 290 Broadway, New York, NY 10007. Threads of Truth will share music and dance in an interactive performance.
International African Diaspora Dance Traditions Conference
Threads of Truth, Inc Artistic Director, Fatima Logan-Alston will present a dance workshop at the conference, Thursday, 8/8/24 from 4-4:55pm “Legacies in our Somatic Stories” and perform “On the Verge of Becoming” in the performance with international presenters Friday 8/9/24 7-8:30pm in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil at the Silvestre Cultural Association. From the Same Clay
From the Same Clay, is a multidisciplinary performance exploring the divine feminine and traditional gender hierarchy through contemporary dance, documentary film, and a talk back with the choreographer. Threads of Legacy
Threads of Legacy, a multidisciplinary arts residency culminates, with an exhibition of participants’ work in African Diaspora crafts including miniature shekeres, beaded and copper wire jewelry, and miniature fashion mannequins. The event will include music and dance performances from Threads of Truth, and light refreshments. This is a free public event, for the Su Casa residency administered by LMCC and supported with public funds from the New York City Council in partnership with the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Department for the Aging.
Threads of Legacy, multidisciplinary arts residency at Hamilton Grange Senior Center, ran Mondays and Wednesdays 1:30-3:30 pm from April 22- June 17, 2024. Culminating public event June 17, 2024.
Pinkster Celebration
Threads of Truth will perform during the Pinkster Celebration at the Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow. This event commemorates and celebrations the ways African descendants made space for cultural retention and resiliency through Pinkster. This event is a program of Historic Hudson Valley.
Turning to the East: Intersecting Futures and Afro-Asian Connections in a Multipolar World
Fatima Logan-Alston, Artistic Director of Threads of Truth, performs On the Verge of Becoming, which blends traditional and contemporary aesthetics to explore transformation. Logan-Alston will also share an interactive performance through an Ode to Fanga, variations from Pearl Primus’ choreography from 1959 shared with the audience, who will then be invited to engage in learning selected sections of the variations.
African Percussion and Dance: Arts in Education Residencies
African Percussion and Dance: Arts in Education Residencies at Columbus Elementary, New Rochelle, NY, Grades K, 2, and 4th. Participants learned traditional rhythms and dance and performed a culminating event for school community.
